Liturgy Ministry
The Liturgy Ministry is primarily concerned with the worship dimension of liturgical prayer - a dimension that is essential to the total spiritual growth process as its most powerful source and clearest expression. The Ministry represents the concerns and interests of parishioners at St. Leo's, coordinates various liturgical ministries, and facilitates the full, active, and conscious participation of the entire assembly.

Liturgical Ministers

Planning Committee - This committee is responsible for planning liturgies and creating the worship environment. They establish long and short range goals for the liturgy and plan all major liturgical celebrations for the parish. For each season and celebration, members design, produce and set up a meaningful liturgical environment.

Eucharistic Ministers - This is a ministry of service not only to the assembly at Mass, but also to our homebound parishioners. Names are submitted to the Pastor, and then after a process of discernment, approved by the Bishop to distribute Holy Communion at Mass or to the sick and homebound.

Altar Servers - Servers assist the presider in liturgical celebration and provide a role of leadership for the assembly. They help with preparation before the liturgy and clean up afterwards. Open to boys and girls, 5th grade through high school.

Sacristan - Sacristans clean the vessels used at Mass and make sure that the linens and vestments are clean and pressed. They provide essential needs (candles, wine, hosts, etc.) for Eucharistic celebrations. They also see that other articles needed for the Mass are available and in good repair.

Ushers - The ushers at Eucharistic celebrations help people to find seats, and provide for the comfort of the assembly. They also assist in collecting monetary offerings from the assembly and distribute bulletins. Men, women, or teens are eligible to serve as ushers. One individual coordinates each Mass.

Lectors - Lectors prepare and proclaim the Word in the form of readings from sacred Scripture at Eucharistic and other special celebrations. Lectors, selected from our parishioners, are provided with a preparation period of instruction and training.

Greeters - The greeters at Eucharistic celebrations welcome people and provide hospitality.

Choir & Music
The choirs assist and encourage the participation of the assembly in sung prayer and add a beauty and solemnity to the liturgy.
Teen Folk - High school aged musicians and singers practice weekly and perform at the youth liturgy held the last Saturday of each month during the school year.
Senior - Members of this choir (14 years of age or older) sing at the 11:00 AM Mass and other special services.

Cantors - Selected from the senior choir, these individuals rehearse regularly and receive special instructions in the ministry of a cantor.
