Cub Packs
|
The Cub Scouts
consist of boys in grades 1-5 and are organized into Packs. The
Cub Packs for each grade are as follows:
- Tiger
Cubs - 1st grade
- Wolf
Cubs - 2nd grade
- Bear
Cubs - 3rd grade
- Webelos
I - 4th grade
- Webelos
II - 5th grade
Pack 98 is chartered
and supported by St. Leo the Great Parish. The American Scout Oath
professes a dedication to a strong and everlasting belief in God.
Scouts must therefore not only commit themselves to learn the basics
of scouting but should in addition commit themselves to learn and
understand the basic teachings of the Catholic Church or of any
Christian Church. Each pack member is strongly urged to pursue optional
programs leading to religious emblems. These programs are available
and are specially structured to meet the needs of each scout as
they begin their lives as Christian adults.
St. Leo the Great Parish holds the strong belief that now, more
than ever, Catholic youth need Scouting because it provides a support
system for building lifetime skills, and instills and reinforces
values that our youth need to solve their problems in a positive
manner. Scouting affords all of us the opportunity to give our youth
the hope and spirit that will make their dreams and ours a reality.
Religious Emblems
To promote the spiritual phase of Scouting, the National Catholic
Committee on Scouting has sanctioned and recognizes two programs
for Catholic boys in Cub Scouts:
Light of Christ (grades 1 - 2) - This emblem is given to
Tiger Cub and Cub Scouts (through Wolf) for advancement in spiritual
growth and religious knowledge.
Parvuli Dei (grades 3 - 5) - This is a Christian family emblem
to recognize Cub Scouts and Webelos Scouts for advancement in religious
knowledge and spiritual formation. With the help of parents or guardians,
the boy becomes more aware of God's presence in his daily life,
especially within his home and community.

Leaders
|
We are a group of Catholic volunteers
working for God through the formation of our youth in Christ, accepting the
ministry of evangelization throughout the Scouting program. We recognize the
value of youth and acknowledge their importance for the future of the Catholic
Church and as future leaders of the world.
